The short version
KILTA is designed to store as little personal information as possible. There are no public profiles, no follower graph, no advertising pixels, and no third-party analytics.
What we store
- Account: a hashed passphrase token. The passphrase itself is shown once and is never stored in plain text.
- Location: only a coarse area cell and its approximate centre. Exact coordinates are discarded before saving.
- Interests: the interests you add, including whether each one is public or private.
- Gatherings: gathering suggestions, votes, and attendance signals needed to run the service.
- Email: only if you enable notifications. It is optional, never public, and never used to sign in.
- Operational logs: server logs used for debugging and abuse prevention.
What we do not store
- No usernames and passwords.
- No exact location history.
- No public profile page.
- No third-party analytics, ad tracking, or fingerprinting.
Private interests
Private interests can be used for matching and ranking possible gatherings, but they are not shown to other people as yours. KILTA may indicate that you share a private overlap with a group without naming who has that interest.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account from Settings. Deleting is one click after confirmation and permanently removes the data associated with your account. It cannot be undone.
Sharing
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. Notification email, when enabled, is processed only to send notifications. We may comply with lawful legal orders if required.
